Thai sticks are basically a cigar of cannabis that came from Thailand, and soon got popular in the US during the 70s. this is basically made from cannabis flower that’s cured, directly onto a stick skewer made of bamboo, and then, there’s fan leaves, all of which is held together by a string of hemp. This is something that was used as a form of consumption of the plant by the tribes that are located in northeastern Thailand, but the reason for their creation is not certain.
This basically came to the US through the Vietnam war, as many of the veterans that were there along with surfers started to go to Thailand, and they came home with some Thai Sticks. These of course, were covered with opium too. The drug war did clamp down on these during the 1970s and te 80s, and this recently got popular as some of the states that legalized marijuana are using these. This is actually something that’s cultivated like a cigar, utilizing the same pattern that was originally new, and it offers a resurgence of these to the local cannabis market.
How to Use This
There are a few things that you need to remove before you smoke the sticks, since that wrapping will definitely mess things up. Take the twine of the hemp, remove your stick which is located near the center part. The curing and wrapping should stick around, as this will help keep the blunt together.

You can definitely smoke this just like a cigar, and only a quarter inch an hour burns with this. You may need a torch to light this up, or a hemp wick to get it going. Let it light up, and then inhale. You don’t want to inhale the entire flame via the hole, and the sticks are definitely large and will definitely need to be smoked either with others, or over longer sessions.
The Feelings
This one comes with a lot of flower in it, so it’s very potent. The biggest thing to remember, r is how potent it is based on the type of strain that you have. Some make them more potent by gluing the leaves that are wrapped there with some concentrate, or taking the whole thing, and then dipping the entire thing in some kief.
The sticks basically work the same way that other cannabis methods work, but they’re designed for potency. Some types also use seeded amounts and not seedless, so they may not be as strong. Usually, the contemporary ones are a big nod back to the original ones, and usually, are made with potency at the forefront.
Benefits and drawbacks
This is cool because you can pretty much use this with all cultivars, but usually sativa strains are the best for this, and it can help those who are depressive, suffer from low energy, or are tired, making them able to focus better.
They are also good for those who need a lot of THC, as they are good to consume a lot, for a small product. The main drawback is that it’s very potent, so novice smokers or those who have very low levels of THC tolerance should avoid this. It can make you very anxious and paranoid if you consume this too much.

Sometimes, people who are sensitive to marijuana don’t benefit from this. It’s best if you assess your own risk, and make sure that you’re able to handle this before you decide to smoke this type of product. Tai sticks are definitely good, but they’re potent, so be mindful when using these as well.
