Marijuana is basically the new big thing in the medical scene today. It first started out with marijuana being strictly used for medical purposes, especially for people struggling with some sort of physical or mental ailment. Some mental health issues like anxiety or depression have been treated by medical marijuana for the past few years now. However, it is not always super easy to get your hands on a medical marijuana card if you are not totally sure where to go. Luckily for us, 2020 was a great year for anyone interested in getting their hands on some medical cannabis. Before 2020, an individual could find their way to a qualified medical provider, obtain their medical records, and get a recommendation for medical marijuana but were unable to find the means of purchasing cannabis in their state. This became a huge issue for a lot of people who went through all the trouble of qualifying for marijuana in their state, but had nowhere to go to buy it. An example of this problem occurred in Utah., where medical marijauana is legal but there are no dispensaries in operation. Fortunately, this problem was fixed after march 2020 when approximately 14 dispensary awards were announced in that state! This is huge news for people like you and me who love cannabis.
So if you plan on making your way over to a dispensary in the near future, there are a few things that you should know about. Firstly, I would highly recommend that you bring your government issued ID as well as any other supporting documents that will help the people at the dispensary figure out who you are. Secondly, you will need to apply for a cannabis card through your state’s database once your doctor or provider has approved it and entered your approval through their system. Since cannabis is still federally outlawed (meaning that it is only legal in certain states but not throughout the whole United States), you are unable to pay for your cannabis with a credit or debit card. Only cash will suffice when it comes to buying your sweet, sweet marijuana. That’s why all products will need to be paid for with cash. Luckily, most dispensaries have seen this coming and usually come equipped with an ATM in the back.

There is also some discrepancy from state to state about which types of products are legal to sell. In that sense, you can expect to buy different types of marijuana depending on where you are shopping. As far as Utah goes, the laws unfortunately focus on the medical aspect of marijuana. This means that certain products like edibles will not be available for purchase, but you can definitely buy all types of raw cannabis flowers and all forms of liquids/oils. Tablet or capsules, oil cartridges for vaping, liquid suspensions, topical lotions or creams, gummies, and unprocessed cannabis flowers will all be available for you to buy at a dispensary near you. This is super good news for those of us who have been living too long in states that have not gotten with the times in approving cannabis for recreational and medical uses.

One thing to keep in mind about buying marijuana for medical purposes is that there is a limit to how much you can have. I know that sounds crazy and super restraining, but that is unfortunately the world we live in at the moment. Your doctor or provider will actually work with you in prescribing the right amount of cannabis for your current condition or environment. From those recommendations, you are usually able to buy about a month’s supply. Hope this helps!
