Amazon Is On The Weed Train Now

The fight for legalizing marijuana from state to state has been a long journey, but it appears that things are looking up for our country and cannabis in recent months. Over 30 of the 50 United States have gone ahead and legalized cannabis in some form, including CBD, medical marijuana, and recreational marijunana. What does this mean for you as a regular cannabis consumer? Well, hopefully in the near future, you will be able to find more and better quality dispensaries around your area and will have access to a wider variety of cannabis products. There have been several significant milestones in the marijuana industry, and it seems that we have just hit a new one. In July of 2021, Amazon actually came out and supported the legalization of marijuana. For those of us who have been pulling for this for years, this announcement was a huge deal. Not only is Amazon a massive global corporation and one of the most profitable companies out there right now, but it is also true that corporate lobbying basically runs our government. Policies and laws are created and destroyed on the basis of companies shelling out massive amounts of money to political leaders who are literally accepting bribes to make policies that go against the regular American citizen. With that being said, perhaps Amazon being in support of legal cannabis in the United States might not be such a bad thing.

A massive public like corporation standing in support of an illegal, but natural drug is highly rare in our country today. Amazon is also regarded as one of the most popular and well-trafficked websites in the world, and millions of people use their products and services every day. So the fact that this company is in support of legalizing cannabis is a huge deal as far as I’m concerned. It is also worth mentioning that Amazon made it’s second headquarters in Washington D.C. where it is getting a ton of political traction in the lobbying area. Like I mentioned before, big corporations love to throw money in the direction of senators and congressmen who love putting it in their pocket. So what does this mean on a ground level? Why is Amazon willing to come out in support of cannabis? Well, for starters, Amazon needed to be the ones to put the money where their corporate mouth is. In that regard, Amazon needed to make a few changes after they put out this statement. One of the cool things that Amazon has decided to do is that they no longer will be testing employees for THC use going forward.

I think this is a super cool initiative on their end; however, I did hear that they will still be testing for THC levels in certain roles or positions, which I guess you can’t really argue with. Many consumers of marijuana are faced with tough choices when marijauna is legal in their state, but they could potentially be punished at their place of employment for testing positively on random drug tests for THC or other forms of cannabis. This would be super annoying for someone who only smokes weed at home and not on the job, but still might get fired from their position. Luckily, if you were an employee at Amazon you no longer have to worry about this.

I think that this cannabis policy is something that companies should pick all around the country. Especially in those states that completely legalize medical and recreational weed, how do you expect to pull from a good pool of job candidates if you get rid of everyone who may consume cannabis on the weekends?

Remember that marijuana should be consumed in moderation and will not just make you lose weight by itself. It is probably best to pair cannabis consumption with healthier eating habits, better sleeping schedules, and even getting some physical activity here and there. I hope this blog would prove to be a helpful guide.
